Ft. Lauderdale International Airport

At airports, while waiting for your flight, you can do 6 things: read, eat, sleep, listen to music, watch picturesque people pass by: or get bored!  To kill boredom, many people start inventing, as was the case with Siomi, who decided to make “lice-puller”.  In the video we see her doing one.

I threw myself for lunch and did not leave the restaurant of Jack Nicklaus, the former American golfer, considered by many as the best golfer in history, for being the one who has won a greater number of major tournaments (a total of 18 professionals and 20 if you count the two Amateur US Opens that he won in 1959 and 1961).  His sturdy appearance and golden hair have given him the nickname Golden Bear.

Also, in order not to get bored, I started reading all the slides published by this modern airport that has improved a lot since the last time I flew to or from it.

Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (IATA: FLL, ICAO: KFLL, FAA LID: FLL) is a major public airport in Broward County, Florida, United States, and is one of three airports serving the Miami metropolitan area. The airport is off Interstate 595, Interstate 95, U.S. Route 1, Florida State Road A1A, and Florida State Road 5 bounded by the cities Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Dania Beach, 3 miles (5 km) southwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale and 21 miles (34 km) north of Miami.

x

x

With over 700 daily flights to 135 domestic and international destinations, FLL has become an intercontinental gateway since the late 1990s, although Miami International Airport still handles most long-haul flights. FLL serves as a primary airport for the Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, and Boca Raton areas, and a secondary airport for parts of Miami and areas north of Boca Raton for flights that are not served by Palm Beach International Airport, such as Delray Beach, Jupiter, Boynton Beach, and West Palm Beach. The airport is a base for Allegiant Air, JetBlue and Spirit Airlines, the latter of which has their corporate headquarters nearby in the suburb of Miramar, Florida. In addition, FLL is the primary south Florida airport for Southwest Airlines (although Southwest also serves both Miami and Palm Beach as well) with the majority of Southwest flights currently serving Fort Lauderdale. FLL is classified by the US Federal Aviation Administration as a “major hub” facility serving commercial air traffic.

x

The problem is with the suitcases that have to have a maximum size to be able to put them on the plane.  We bought one at Walmart and they didn’t accept it because I was 2 inches taller.

x

x

I could almost hardly go to the trip due to a back crisis that did not allow me to walk, which is why I had to request wheelchairs at each of the airports.  My doctor ordered me an “atomic bomb” (Ibuprofen + Oxycodone) that I could not take for more than a week, enough to spend the holidays without pain.  They turned out to be wonderful. In addition, we found that those transported in wheelchairs do not queue and are the first to enter the plane.  When they arrive at the destination, another wheelchair is waiting for them.

We had read that the flights were not leaving, as many of them were being cancelled due to lack of staff.  That worried us for several weeks.  However, all the airports were packed.  The only flight that was delayed a couple of hours was the Dallas-Spokane flight.    At the Ft. Lauderdale airport the queue to buy coffee was kilometic.  I decided not to buy it and thus prevent my blood pressure from rising.
