On January 1st, 2023, I had the great misfortune of making the unforgivable mistake of joining “YouFit Gym”, located at 8942W. State Rd 84, Davie Fl 33324. The next day I received a phone call from one of its trainers named Clinton Murray, who invited me to hire him as my personal trainer. We agreed to see each other the next day.
Being a magnificent salesperson, Mr. Murray managed to get me to accept him as my personal trainer, paying him the sum of $180.00 with the right to one training per week, for which he made me sign – electronically – “thousands” of virtual documents. At the time it seemed like too much protocol to hire a personal trainer, but I agreed to the multiple signatures without Mr. Murray explaining to me clearly what I was signing. He only warned me that if I wanted to cancel the training, I would have to inform “YouFit Gym”, with a 30 days’ notice in advance. Mr. Murray had me sign in an “electronic box”. As I was signing, Mr. Murray was telling me: “this is for such and such… this is for such and such“. All in a very superficially vague way without going deeper into the “fine prints”. One doesn’t sign a physical written and printed contract in which you can read all the details of what you’re signing BEFORE you sign it. I now realize that Mr. Murray acted surreptitiously.
The training turned out to be quite mediocre, lasting 15 to 20 minutes per session, so I decided, after 15 days, to inform my decision to cancel it and I told Miss Lauryn, who always attended me at the gym, my intention to cancel my training. I made this cancellation on January 16 – 2023 – and it would become effective on February 16, 2023.
What would be my big surprise when on February 3rd I saw that “YouFit Gym” withdrew the full amount of $180.00 from my bank account, disrespecting my informed intention to cancel the training in mid-February, just as I told Ms. Lauryn (with 30 days of participation) on January 16.
All the kindness with which they treated me when I joined “YouFit Gym” as a member, changed radically and then they began to treat me like an undesirable pariah.
Ms. Lauryn accepted that on February 16 I had informed her of my intention to cancel the training, but she claimed that I had not done so in writing to the gym manager, something she never told me I had to do when I informed her of my intention. to cancel the training.
She told me that if I did not sign the cancellation today (February 3rd, 2023), the training would continue and be automatically renewed. So, she urged me to sign a new cancelation 30 days’ notice, but I told Ms. Lauryn that I would sign the document if she would sign me a note stating that on January 16th, I had informed her my intent to cancel the training. A lady who identified herself as the general manager of the gym, signed the note, but she refused to give me her name. None of the employees present at the time were willing to give me the name of the supposed manager, the same one who had signed the following note:

In the end “YouFit Gym” accepted that my intention to cancel the personal training had been participated, but that my mistake was not having done so in writing to management. They never gave me a printed copy of the original contract and I had to pressure Miss Lauryn to print what I had signed today.
This refusal to return the excessive amount they are trying to collect from me shows the desperate state “YouFit Gym” is in, willing to accept new members without charging them the registration fee.

To conclude, when I told the supposed manager that I had encountered many negative comments about the aforementioned gym, she replied that all the comments posted on the web about “YouFit Gym” are positive.
